Time should be something you know all about!
First, let’s start with the basics:
There are two hands on the clock: The minute hand-the larger hand because minute is a larger word. The hour hand is the smaller hand because hour is a small word.
Talking about time:
“Quarter after” 15 minutes AFTER an hour
Example: “Quarter after”5 = 5:15
“Quarter til or Quarter to” 15 minutes BEFORE an hour
Example: “Quarter til” 5 = 4:45
“Half past” 5 = 5:30
Elapsed Time is the time that passes from the start to the end of an activity.
First you need to make a t-chart or t-table. Put the start time on the left side and the end time on the right side. Work with the hour(s) first, then you work with the minutes. Don’t forget to use those bubbles when your adding up the hour(s) and minutes!
Example: Start: 5:48AM End: 8:56AM
5:48AM__________8:56AM
6:48AM 8:48AM
7:48AM 8:53AM
8:48AM 8:54AM
8:55AM
8:56AM
3hrs. 13 minutes
